Privacy Policy
Updated January 6th 2022
Welcome to Axir (the "Service", "we", "us", "our"). Our mission is a to
help you connect to active people. To do that, you can see and search for users, connect with people, create
and join events and discover spots. Everything in the app is tailored depending on your favorite activities
and skills. We show you personalized content we think you'll be interested in based on information we
collect from you and third parties. We only use that information where we have a proper legal basis for
doing so.
We wrote this policy to help you understand what information we collect, how we use it and what choices you
have about it. Because we're an internet company, some of the concepts below are a little technical,
but we've tried our best to explain things in a simple and clear way.
We welcome your questions and comments on this policy.
When you sign up for or use Axir, you give us certain information voluntarily. This includes your name,
username, email address, profile photo, date of birth, gender and location data. You can also choose to
share with us photos, spoken languages, activities, levels, website, hometown, biography, events,
get-togethers, posts and chats ("User Content"). If you chat with other Axir Users, you provide us the
content of your chats.
If you link your Facebook account to Axir, we also get information from those accounts (such as your friends
or contacts). The information we get from those services depends on your settings and their privacy
policies, so please check what those are.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. When changes are made, we will update
the "last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You should regularly check for the most
recent version, which is the version that applies.
By using our Service, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We get technical information when you use Axir
Log data. When you use Axir, our servers record information ("log data"),
including information
that your mobile app automatically sends when you're using it. This log data includes your Internet
Protocol address, the date and time of your request, how you used Axir and device data.
Device information. In addition to log data, we collect information about the device you're using Axir
on, including type of device, operating system, settings, unique device identifiers and crash data that
helps us understand when something breaks. Whether we collect some or all of this information often depends
on what type of device you're using and its settings. For example, different types of information are
available depending on whether you're using an iPhone or Android phone. To learn more about what
information your device makes available to us, please also check the policies of your device manufacturer or
software provider.
What we do with the info we collect
We use the information we collect to provide the Service to you. We commit to showing
you content that is
relevant, interesting and personal to you. In order to do that, it's necessary for us to use your
information to:
- Identify you when you use Axir
- Recommend People, Events, Get-togethers, spots and activities. For example, if we see you're into
surfing, we may suggest surfing profiles, events, spots or related activities.
It is also fundamental to the nature of the Service we provide. In short, it's necessary for us to do
these things in order to make the Service relevant, interesting and personal to you like we promised, and
it's in both of our interests for us to do that.
We also have a legitimate interest to improve Axir, maintain our relationship with you, and protect users.
We both benefit when we use your information to:
- Suggest other people who have similar interests. For example, if you add the activity Tennis, we may
suggest Tennis players that you might like to see and connect with.
- Help your friends and contacts find you on Axir, if you agree to this in your settings. For example, if
you sign up using a Facebook account, we can help your Facebook friends find you on Axir when they first
sign up for Axir. Or, people can search for your account on Axir using your name or username.
- Conduct analytics on who is using Axir and what they are doing. For example, by logging how often people
use two different versions of a feature on Axir, we can understand which version is better.
- Improve Axir and offer new features.
- Send you updates (such as when certain activity, like suggested events/Get-togethers, invitations
connection requests) and news by email or push notification, depending on your settings. For example, we
might send email updates that include content you may like. You can decide to stop getting these
notifications by updating your settings.
- Work with law enforcement and keep Axir safe. We may get requests for account information from law
enforcement authorities like the police or courts.
In addition to the specific circumstances above, we'll only use your information with your consent in
order to:
Identify your location and customize the content we show you. For example, if we know that you are based in
San Francisco, we could show you content that is relevant from San Francisco. You can choose not to share
your location but won't be able to use Axir. Location is a requirement to use Axir.
These data can also allow Axir to realize statistical studies and marketing analysis relating to the use of
the Service and its services by the Users.
Transferring your information
Axir is a worldwide service. By using Axir, you authorize us to transfer and store your information outside your home country, including in the United States, for the purposes described in this policy. The privacy protections and the rights of authorities to access your information in these countries may not be the same as in your home country. We take additional measures when information is transferred from the European Economic Area (EEA). This includes having standard clauses approved by the European Commission in our contracts with parties that receive information outside the EEA. We also rely on European Commission adequacy decisions about certain countries, as applicable, for data transfers to countries outside the EEA. See link.
Choices you have about your information
Our goal is to give you simple and meaningful choices regarding your information. If
you have a Axir
account, many of the choices you have on Axir are built directly into Axir or your settings. For example,
you can:
- Edit information in your profile at any time
- Add, remove and edit activity profiles. Activity photos can be added or deleted.
In addition to the examples provided above, we offer other choices that you can learn more about in our help
center.
You also have choices available to you through the device or software you use to access Axir. For example:
Your mobile device lets you choose how and whether your location, photos and other data is shared with us.
To learn more about these choices, please see the information provided by your device or software provider.
How and when we share information
Any Axir user can see your main profile, activity profiles and related photos. For
example, you can search
for a user and see the profile and photos that he/she shared.
Events are currently public to Axir users. The exact location of an event/Get-together is displayed only to
users that were manually added to the event/Get-together by invitation or request, or if the organizer made
joining of an event/Get-together automatic. This means that other Users may see any of your User Content
that you make publicly available through the Service, consistent with the terms and conditions of this
Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.
Law enforcement agencies or government agencies. We only share information if we believe that disclosure is
reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety, rights, or
property of the public, any person, or Axir; or to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or
technical issues.
Our wholly owned subsidiaries and affiliates. If we were to engage in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy,
dissolution, reorganization, or similar transaction or proceeding that involves the transfer of the
information described in this Policy, we would share your information with a party involved in such a
process (for example, a potential purchaser).
How we protect your personal information
We take security measures to help safeguard your personal information from
unauthorized access and
disclosure. However, no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take steps to secure your
information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information, chats, or other
communications will always remain secure. Users should also take care with how they handle and disclose
their personal information and should avoid sending personal information through insecure email. Please
refer to the Federal Trade Commission's website for information about how to protect
yourself against identity theft. You agree that we may communicate with you electronically regarding
security, privacy, and administrative issues, such as security breaches. We may post a notice on our Service
if a security breach occurs. We may also send an email to you at the email address you have provided to us.
You may have a legal right to receive this notice in writing. To receive free written notice of a security
breach (or to withdraw your consent from receiving electronic notice), please notify us.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to help keep the information collected through the Service secure
and take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password and email validation) to verify your
identity before granting you access to your account. However, Axir cannot ensure the security of any
information you transmit to Axir or guarantee that information on the Service may not be accessed,
disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
Please do your part to help us. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and
account information, and for controlling access to emails between you and Axir, at all times.
We are not responsible for the practices employed by any websites or services linked to or from our Service,
including the information or content contained within them. Please remember that when you use a link to go
from our Service to another website or service, our Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party
websites or services. Your browsing and interaction on any third-party website or service, including those
that have a link on our website, are subject to that third party's own rules and policies. In addition,
you agree that we are not responsible and do not have control over any third-parties that you authorize to
access your User Content. If you are using a third-party website or service and you allow them to access
your User Content you do so at your own risk.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information only so long as we need it to provide Axir to you and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. This is also the case for anyone that we share your information with and who carries out services on our behalf. When we no longer need to use your information and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we'll either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it so that we can't identify you.
Age requirement
You must be 18 years old to use Axir. If you are based in the EEA you may only use Axir if you are over the age at which you can provide consent to data processing under the laws of your country or if verifiable parental consent for your use of Axir has been provided to us. If you are a parent and you learn that your child is using Axir and you don't want them to, notify us.
